A revista norte-americana Rolling Stone publicou em 2006 uma lista compilando as 500 melhores músicas de todos os tempos na opinião dos maiores especialistas de música do planeta.

Apesar de ser de 2006, a lista é bastante atual em minha opinião.

Como cita as melhores músicas de todos os tempos, as músicas abaixo entrarão com certeza em qualquer nova lista criteriosa atualizada.

Se eu pudesse, acrescentaria outras 50 entre músicas muito boas criadas de lá para cá e músicas cantadas em outras línguas além do inglês americano e britânico (o idioma predominante da lista) – incluiria as 20 melhores músicas brasileiras de todos os tempos também e muitas outras músicas boas em espanhol, entre outras.
Eu as incluiria nos 10% de margem de erro que acredito que toda boa lista deve ter.
